Japan - Harajuku youth

Harajuku is a district of Tokio. It is known internationally as a center of Japanese youth culture and fashion.
Takeshita Dori is the most famous shopping and entertainment street in Harajuku. There are fashionable cafés and plenty of shops with trendy clothes and accessories for both men and women.

Dressed up young people often gather in Harajuku district. One of their favourite place is Yoyogi park.  They meet, chat or pose to photographers and tourists. They know that they are a tourist attraction.
Some of them wear really excentric clothes. Some dress up as cosplay, especially during the weekends.

Harajuku had its own fashion magazine called "Fruits." It published pictures of teenagers in most interesting outfits. It contained a brief profile of a photographed person which included their age, occupation and description of what brands they were wearing. In 2017 Fruits ceased publication explaining that "they are no more cool kids to photograph."

There are different styles that Harajuku youth presents. The main are Lolita, Gothic Lolita, Ganguro, Kimono style, Kogal and many others. Street fashion in Tokio may change even every month so it is quite a challenge to follow it.
